BikeTrax installation fails

What can I do if adding the BikeTrax  fails during the wireless network search?

If adding fails in step 2 (wireless network search), it is usually because the BikeTrax is not receiving any power from the bike. You can check whether the BikeTrax is warming up by leaving the bike switched on for at least 10 minutes. If it warms up, this means that there is voltage. In this case, you can try the following:

If the BikeTrax is not yet installed:
  1. BikeTrax scan (enter ID)
  2. BikeTrax  connect to the additional battery
  3. Only install BikeTrax after it has been successfully added
If the BikeTrax is already installed:
  1. Do not move the bike for at least 5 minutes (so that the BikeTrax goes into standby mode)
  2. Scan QR code and assign name (try to add tracker)
  3. In step 2 (wireless network), only then move the wheel (if the wheel is constantly moving, the GPS tracker cannot be added)
What can I do if the configuration is cancelled in step 3 (GPS search)?

If the configuration cancels in step 3, it is because the BikeTrax cannot receive a GPS signal.

Please make sure that the BikeTrax is not surrounded by metal or carbon after installation, as these materials can block the GPS signal.

The antenna should be correctly aligned to the outside - the PowUnity logo indicates the correct position.

For installation in the user account, we recommend placing the bike switched on in an outdoor location so that the GPS signal is optimally received.

If it still does not work, a longer journey can often help to ensure that a valid GPS signal is received.

Can the BikeTrax be installed in the frame?


The BikeTrax should not be surrounded by metal or carbon, as these materials can block GPS signals. We therefore recommend installing it under a plastic cover to ensure optimum signal transmission.

Wenn Du Dein E-Bike inklusive BikeTrax weiterverkaufst, dann musst Du den Tracker aus Deinem Account löschen. 

Danach kann der neue Besitzer den BikeTrax in seiner eigenen App hinzufügen.

Mit dem Löschen aus der App wird das bestehende Abo automatisch gekündigt, der neue Besitzer kann dann danach ein eigenes neues Abo abschließen.

Charging the BikeTrax battery

When is the additional battery charged by the BikeTrax?

The BikeTrax is not charged during the charging process of the bike battery.

The charging of the additional battery depends on the BikeTrax version.

There are BikeTrax versions with a light, display or PowerPort connection. For the additional battery to be charged, the respective connection must be active and outputting voltage.

Is the battery not charged or is it just not displayed correctly?

Our app is not directly connected to the battery, but receives the data via our server. The GPS tracker sends the battery status to the server via the SIM card and the app retrieves this data.

If the battery status is not displayed correctly, this may be due to either the battery itself or a missing data connection.

Battery test: Is the battery still working?
Test 1: Check battery & alarm
  1. Switch your bike on.
  2. Activate the lock in the app (lock symbol on green).
  3. Move your bike.
    > Did you get an alarm?
Test 2: Check battery when switched off
  1. Switch your bike off.
  2. Activate the lock in the app (lock symbol on green).
  3. Move your bike.
    > No alarm? Then the battery could be faulty.
Evaluate results:
  • No alarm on test 2? → Battery could have a problem.
  • No alarm for both tests? → There is probably a different problem.

In both cases, you can contact your specialist dealer or our support team. If you need a new battery, we will be happy to help you!

Have you just installed the GPS tracker?

If you have reinstalled the GPS tracker, please check the following:

1. Are the connection cables plugged in correctly? Sometimes it helps to disconnect and reconnect the GPS tracker and the additional battery again.

2.  Bosch Gen4 motors: Has the PowerPort / High Power Port been activated by a specialist dealer?

3. If your tracker is connected to the light port - is the light switched on?

Further check: Is the tracker getting warm?

Leave your bike switched on for at least 10 minutes and check whether the GPS tracker is warming up.

In addition, a flash symbol should appear in the battery display in the app when the bike is switched on.

BikeTrax in Bosch Gen4 is not charged

How is the additional BikeTrax battery for Bosch Generation 4 charged?

To ensure that BikeTrax for Bosch Generation 4 works properly, please note the following steps:

  1. Activation of the power port connection:
    • The Power Port connection must be activated by a bicycle dealer using the Bosch Diagnostic Tool.
    • This activation ensures that the power port outputs voltage and the auxiliary battery can be charged.
  2. Charging the auxiliary battery by driving:
    • As soon as the Power Port connection is activated, the auxiliary battery charges automatically while riding - but only if the bike is switched on.
    • To fully charge the auxiliary battery (0 % to 100 %), a journey of at least 1.5 hours is required.
